{"id":29681,"date":"2023-01-18T03:08:54","date_gmt":"2023-01-18T03:08:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gyalchisarshog.com\/?p=29681"},"modified":"2023-01-18T03:08:57","modified_gmt":"2023-01-18T03:08:57","slug":"top-ukraine-us-military-leaders-meet-over-urgent-needs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gyalchisarshog.com\/?p=29681","title":{"rendered":"Top Ukraine, US military leaders meet over \u2018urgent needs\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al Jazeera:   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The top United States military officer travelled to Poland and talked with his Ukrainian counterpart face to face for the first time as Russia\u2019s war on Ukraine nears the one-year mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">US Army General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, met for a couple of hours with Ukraine\u2019s chief military officer, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, at an undisclosed location in southeastern Poland near the border with Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zaluzhnyi said he outlined his forces\u2019 \u201curgent needs\u201d on Tuesday with Milley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two leaders have talked frequently about Ukraine\u2019s military requirements and the state of the war over the past year but had never met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting comes as the international community ramps up military assistance to Ukraine, including expanded training of Ukrainian troops by the US and the provision of a Patriot missile battery, tanks and increased air defence and other weapons systems by the US and a coalition of European and other nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It also marks a key time in the war.
