{"id":44768,"date":"2025-01-31T08:23:59","date_gmt":"2025-01-31T08:23:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gyalchisarshog.com\/?p=44768"},"modified":"2025-01-31T08:24:03","modified_gmt":"2025-01-31T08:24:03","slug":"trump-pledges-to-go-ahead-with-25-tariffs-on-canada-mexico-from-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gyalchisarshog.com\/?p=44768","title":{"rendered":"Trump pledges to go ahead with 25% tariffs on Canada, Mexico from Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al Jazeera:   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">United States President Donald Trump has reiterated his threat to impose\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/economy\/2024\/11\/26\/trump-promises-25-tariff-on-mexico-and-canada-extra-10-tariff-on-china\">25 percent tariffs<\/a>\u00a0on Canada and Mexico from Saturday while leaving open the possibility that oil imports could be exempted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to reporters at the White House on Thursday, Trump said he \u201cmay or may not\u201d exclude oil from the tariffs and would decide \u201cprobably tonight\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re going to make that determination probably tonight on oil,\u201d Trump said at the Oval Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBecause they send us oil. We\u2019ll see, it depends on what their price is.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump said that the US would be able to make up for any decline in imports \u201cvery quickly\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBecause we don\u2019t need the products they have.
