April 18- New Zealand on Saturday defended the actions of a military patrol aircraft flight near China \u200bafter Beijing said it had undermined its security \u200cinterests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
China’s foreign ministry said on Friday that a New Zealand P-8A patrol aircraft had \u201cconducted continuous close-in reconnaissance and harassment \u200bin the airspace and waters of the Yellow \u200bSea and East China Sea\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The action undermined \u2060China’s security interests, increased risks of misunderstanding and \u200bmiscalculation, and gravely disrupted the order of civil aviation,” \u200bspokesperson Guo Jiakun said, according to an official transcript.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Responding to the claim, the New Zealand Defence Force said a Royal New \u200bZealand Air Force aircraft “has been undertaking activities that \u200bmonitor North Korean sanctions evasions at sea in North Asia under \u200cUN \u2060Security Council resolutions”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The New Zealand Defence Force crew operated professionally and in accordance with international law and civil aviation procedures for the region,” it said \u200bin a statement. “We \u200bhave made \u2060it clear that this is a longstanding deployment enforcing UN-mandated sanctions on North \u200bKorea.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
