April 29 (Reuters) – Russia has attacked port infrastructure in Ukraine’s southern Odesa region with drones in overnight strikes that also \u200bdamaged residential buildings and a hospital and left \u200ctwo people wounded, Ukrainian officials said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regional Governor Oleh Kiper, writing on Telegram, said the attack in the south of the \u200bOdesa region destroyed the admissions department of a \u200bhospital there, and badly damaged other parts of \u2060the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time of the attack, medical staff \u200band patients were in a shelter, and they were later \u200bmoved to another facility, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regional prosecutors said port infrastructure facilities came under attack, without giving details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emergency services said two people were \u200bhurt in fires in a residential area. They posted \u200bpictures of buildings engulfed by fire and firefighters battling the blazes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kiper \u200cadded \u2060that a fire was also recorded at the Danube Biosphere Reserve, a nature reserve in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Odesa region, which houses major Ukrainian seaports and river ports on the \u200bDanube, has \u200bbeen a \u2060repeated target of Russian attacks during Moscow’s more than four-year-old war<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine’s air force said Russia had \u200blaunched 171 drones at the country since \u200bMonday \u2060evening. The air defence units downed or neutralised 154 drones, it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
