{"id":57548,"date":"2026-05-13T07:10:49","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T07:10:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gyalchisarshog.com\/?p=57548"},"modified":"2026-05-13T07:11:04","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T07:11:04","slug":"putin-hails-russias-test-launch-of-most-powerful-missile-in-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gyalchisarshog.com\/?p=57548","title":{"rendered":"Putin hails Russia\u2019s test launch of \u2018most powerful missile in the world\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Al Jazeera:   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Russia has test-fired a new intercontinental ballistic missile, with President Vladimir Putin describing the nuclear-capable Sarmat weapon as the world\u2019s \u201cmost powerful\u201d missile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>State television broadcast footage of Sergei Karakayev, commander of Russia\u2019s strategic missile forces, reporting to Putin on what Moscow described as a successful launch on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Putin said that the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/features\/2022\/4\/22\/russias-sarmat-and-chinas-yj-21-what-the-missile-tests-mean\">Sarmat missile<\/a>&nbsp;would enter combat service at the end of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is the most powerful missile in the world,\u201d he said in televised remarks, adding that its warhead yield was more than four times greater than any Western equivalent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Putin said the Sarmat was capable of suborbital flight, giving it a range exceeding 35,000km (21,750 miles), and claimed it could \u201cpenetrate all existing and future anti-missile defence systems\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The test comes after years of setbacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Development of the Sarmat began in 2011, and before Tuesday, the missile had only one known successful test and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2024\/9\/24\/russias-new-sarmat-missile-suffered-catastrophic-failure-researchers\">reportedly suffered<\/a>&nbsp;a massive explosion during an abortive test in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Designated \u201cSatan II\u201d in the West, the Sarmat is meant to replace about 40 Soviet-built Voyevoda missiles.
