MANILA, July 11- At least 15 Indian tourists died when a boat capsized off Vietnam’s \u200bsouthern island of Phu Quoc on \u200cSaturday, VnExpress reported, citing local authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Twenty-one people survived the accident, according to the report. The vessel \u200bwas carrying 36 people, including 32 \u200bIndian tourists, three crew members and one \u2060attendant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
India’s embassy in Vietnam said it \u200bwas monitoring the incident and had established emergency \u200bresponse centres in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to assist affected families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Exact details of the incident \u200bare being ascertained as search and \u200brescue operations by local authorities are ongoing,” the embassy \u200csaid \u2060in a statement, describing the incident as “tragic.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The boat was travelling from Hon May Rut Island to An Thoi Port when it \u200boverturned about 400 \u200bm (440 \u2060yards) into the sea, according to authorities cited by VnExpress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
VnExpress reported \u200bthat sea conditions were rough, with \u200blarge \u2060waves in the area at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
