Aug 18 – A Russian missile attack killed \u200c10 people on Tuesday in a village in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region, Ukrainian authorities said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This morning the Russians launched a brutal \u200battack on a busy intersection in Pechenihy, \u200bKharkiv region \u2013 a location with a post office \u2060and stores, surrounded only by residential buildings,” \u200bPresident Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zelenskiy posted \u200bphotos of a destroyed building, cars on fire and emergency responders carrying people on stretchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We will definitely respond to this \u200bRussian strike,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A further 17 \u200bpeople were injured in the attack, the governor of the \u200csurrounding \u2060region, Oleh Syniehubov, said on the Telegram messaging app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There was no immediate public comment from Russia on the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The strike on the village damaged \u200b10 private \u200bbuildings, a \u2060cafe, a post office, a store and at least seven cars, Syniehubov said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u200bUkraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office said that according \u200bto \u2060preliminary information, Russia used two small Banderol cruise missiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
