But the notes offer a more personal glimpse of the man behind the political leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/480\/cpsprodpb\/bda5\/live\/2a0ba7f0-9d1f-11f1-b109-879e35c24276.jpg.webp\" alt=\"Saffronart Gandhi's portable spinning wheel and his letters about the spiritual discipline of spinning \"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Gandhi&#8217;s portable spinning wheel was among the 86 items auctioned<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gandhi wrote to Hingorani for around two years after the death of his wife, Vidya, offering him guidance, consolation and encouragement. The messages were later compiled in a book called, A Thought for the Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dinesh Vazirani, co-founder of Saffronart, said the collection allowed people to see Gandhi &#8220;through the lens of a close, personal relationship&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The notes were the highlight of Saffronart&#8217;s &#8220;86-lot&#8221; auction, titled Gandhi: From the Collection of Anand T Hingorani.
