King Charles III: How to watch the coronation in the United States

The coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla on Saturday 6 May will showcase the sort of lavish royal pageantry the British are famous for.

The ceremony, which will take place in Westminster Abbey in London, is a religious occasion steeped in centuries-old traditions and it will be broadcast live in the US.

How to watch the coronation live

Coverage of King Charles III’s coronation will begin in the early hours of Saturday morning, with a live stream and a live page with commentary and analysis on bbc.com/news.

Viewers can also watch the ceremony live on the BBC News channel (check your local listings) or listen to BBC World Service for live coverage.

When does the coronation ceremony begin?

King Charles and Queen Camilla will make the journey from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey starting at 05:20 EDT (10:20 BST), in a golden coronation coach. The service starts at 06:00 EDT (11:00 BST), and you can read more about the details of the service here., and about the crown that will be placed on his head here.

At 08:00 EDT (13:00 BST), the King and Queen leave Westminster Abbey in a ceremonial procession from through London back to Buckingham Palace, joined by other members of the Royal Family.

The day’s official events will finish at about 09:00 EDT (14:00 BST) when the King and Queen, as well as members of the Royal Family will appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
