The state funeral of Dasho Dorji Gyeltshen

29 July 2025: The state funeral of Dasho Dorji Gyeltshen, Zimpon to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, was held today.

The Royal Bhutan Army presented a Guard of Honour, and funerary rites were overseen by the Je Khenpo.

Zimpon Dasho Dorji Gyeltshen began serving His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo after joining the Royal Bodyguards in 1963. He was conferred the red scarf by His Majesty the Third Druk Gyalpo in 1972.

He served as Gyalpoi Zimpon for 34 years. He was conferred the Druk Thuksey Medal by His Majesty The King in 2021.

Zimpon Dasho Dorji Gyeltshen passed away on July 14, 2025. He was 83 years old.
