The People’s Democratic Party wishes to inform the public that the Hon’ble Speaker of the National Assembly, Lungten Dorji, has resigned from the Office of the Speaker. His Majesty The

Druk Gyalpo has graciously accepted his resignation.

The resignation was submitted in view of internal Party matters that require his attention and leadership.

Following his resignation, the Party unanimously nominated the Hon’ble Minister for Health, Tandin Wangchuk, as its candidate for Speaker today.

The Party will formally submit the nomination to the National Assembly for election in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Constitution, the National Assembly Act, and the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly of Bhutan.

The Party remains committed to ensuring a smooth and orderly transition while upholding the dignity, integrity, and independence of the National Assembly and the principles of parliamentary democracy.
